Robbin Wall

Following a national search, Robbin Wall, principal of Academy of Irving ISD ( Independent School District ) in Irving, Texas , will join MNPS as the new principal of McGavock High School . In announcing Wall's appointment, Register noted Wall's experience with Smaller Learning Communities at the 1,700-student Academy, which offers six career specialization areas for students. Academy was one of the schools visited by MNPS to learn best practices in the implementation of high school reform initiatives .

"I am excited Robbin has accepted my offer to come to McGavock," said Register. "I feel confident that his experience and abilities are well-suited to lead McGavock forward and provide the strong leadership it needs."

A native of Texas, Wall has spent the past 31 years as an educator, the last 17 in administration as an athletic director, assistant principal and principal. During the eight years of its existence, Academy of Irving ISD has found ways to become a unique and successful school that allows students the opportunity to reach their full potential. The school has its district's highest 9th grade math scores for the past five years and is the only high school in the Irving ISD to have all ELA/Reading scores for 9th, 10th, & 11th grade above the 90 percentile the last five years. Its student population is diverse, with 71% of its students classified as at-risk. Other Academy accomplishments while headed by Wall include:

  • Highest attendance rate of all high schools in the Irving ISD for the last five years
  • Top 5% of High Schools in the U.S. based on Newsweek ratings
  • Listed among the top "75 Promising Schools" in America by Bill Gates as well as Bill Daggett and the Model Schools Group
  • One of four campuses through the "Smaller Learning Communities" in the U.S. to offer "Design Studio" training for other high schools nation wide
  • Developed and patented the " Employability Skills Rubric" which is now being used by schools across the country
