The students, faculty and friends of Overton High School were deeply affected by tragedy this week with the passing of a young classmate in a tragic house fire. In a show of support to the large family still reeling from losing a loved one and its home, the school is taking donations to help them out in this time of need.
Today Principal Andrew Shuler Pelham gave the family with check for $500, made up of money collected from around the school. More money is needed, though, along with essentials like food, clothing, toiletries, shoes, beds and blankets. Giftcards to Kroger and Wal-Mart would also be greatly appreciated by the family.
If you would like to donate, please contact Overton's main office.
